Oh, hai! i'm glad you made it here intact :3
I guess i could ramble a bit now, however you should know that i am not a reliable source legally, mentally and spiritually speaking
With that out of the way, let's get to the juice
So, this is something i've been meaning to get off my chest since, like, forever. GHOST POKEMON ARE [mostly] NOT EVIL BY NATURE, and it's such bs to see them being treated as pests, so you can bet your sorry asses that i'm about to present proof and evidence and shit of them being nice, also accussing a lot of proffesors of being unreliable and dumb.
We start with the first yet middest case of ghost slander, the gengar line. First we have gastly, most entries are supported by evidence as they mostly state they're poisonous, gas-like and can provoke paranormal behavior. There's a bit of bs in the Ultra Moon dex that states "Poisonous gas comprises 95% of its body. It's said that the remaining 5% is made up of the souls of those who died from the gas." which can't be confirmed nor denied, but also doesn't really add to the slander accusations. Haunter is where the slander and bs truly begins to shine, as the pokedex as early as yellow states "By licking, it saps the victim's life. It causes shaking that won't stop until the victim's demise.", this clearly is a reference to haunter being able to use the move "Lick", which has a chance of causing paralysis, but even back on hisui people knew how to get rid of those symptoms in a matter of seconds. This same entry gets another tone in SUN, as the alolan dex states: "It strikes at humans from total darkness. Those licked by its cold tongue grow weaker with each passing day until they die.", which is an overly dramatization of the already dramatic entry from pokemon yellow. However, the real rage begins in pokemon scarlet, as the paldean encyclopedia states that "It likes to lurk in the dark and tap shoulders with a gaseous hand. Its touch causes endless shuddering.", which is straight up lies. Haunters have been seen through all the franchise licking and poking pokemon and humans alike and, as far as i know, none of those "curses" have ever fulfilled.
Gengar is an interesting case, i can't seem to be able to defend them. All pokedex entries claim that gengar feeds off of life force, laying curses on people and hiding on their shadows, and in the anime ash himself has been shown to be afflicted by a vengeful gengar's curse. I can't even argue that these are just hunting tactics, as we'll see later, ghost pokemon have been shown to live just fine by eating only berries. Also, gengar generally looks like it's either enjoying or unaware of his deadly behavior.
Misdreavus seems to have conflicting pokedex entries, some state that it likes to pull pranks on people just because of it's mischevious nature, others argue that it does it to feed off of their fear. While this is mostly speculation, as everything on this section is [lmao], i believe that it only does it as a joke, and doesn't mean to cause any harm. These claims are both supported by the berry thing and also by the poketoons special episode "Help! I've turned into a gengar!" shows misdreavus [and gengar, which would've worked as the one bit of defense on it's favor now that i think about it] playing pranks on kids just for the shits and giggles. To them it's not more than that though, harmless fun.
Mismagius is low hanging fruit for this kind of ramblings, it's been debated for decades whether it's good or evil. If you were to ask me, Mismagius is as evil as their owner, while in the wild they lean [as misdreavus does] to the playful and reckless side. It's curses have pokedex entries that argue both evil and good behavior, but honestly it all boils down to how responsible their trainer really is, even a ratata can be bad if it has a bad trainer.
This is where the blog stops for now, i'll come back to defend more mons soon though... in the meantime watch a familiar horse:
